The music video is our basis for the way we will film and edit our music video. The black and white style became appealing to us and the way the narrative progressed was also fitting to our tragedy video. Despite the difference in genres we want to bring the similarities of desperation, depression and sorrow into our video and we believe this style of filming with our selected narrative (that coincidently is similar to 'The A-Team') the song 'On Call' will be perfect for this style of video.
FX - The only use of FX in this video is at the end when her image is in the sky. This is due to the fact the video has to feel natural as it is realistic and that effect is mainly to contrast her death and show her in the heavens.
Editing - The entire video is edited to appear black and white to show the narrative in an old fashion way. It makes it more powerful too. However at the end there is some colour when her face is in the sky to show the light and beauty of her life arriving only in her death. There is also some fast forwarding within the video to show the transition of time going by and her doing the same thing (watching the world or beginning).

Lighting - Its low key and very dark throughout the video to contrast her dark life. Its depressing which is good as it fits the video, narrative and the lyrics to the song "Lights gone, days end". This also explains why the entire video is shot during the night too. However there is high key lighting which is natural at the end to press on the idea that she is at peace and beautiful at death.
Locations - Its mainly urban and on the streets with a few car parks appearing to show she is a street lurker and a druggy. An apartment is used to connote the sex and prostitution but besides this there are not that many locations used as the simplicity and realistic feel to the narrative would be broken.

Genre Characteristics - Indie rock is supposed to be a slow, emotional genre and this video portrays just that. The video is slow moving, she seems to move about aimless and of course its emotional because she is homeless. Rock makes us think of long hair, black clothing and pale skin so this has been referenced with the black and white footage.
Relationships between lyrics and Visuals - "Go mad for a couple grams" this this is towards the end of the video when she is taking drugs after encounters with the stranger. "Its too cold outside" is a link to the visuals because she is homeless and has to face the cold regardless if whether she wants too. Also Ed mentions "For angels to fly" at the same time there is medium shot of a slogan on a billboard which says "improving the angel" the angel being the girl and the improvement being along the lines of rehabilitation.

Relationships between music and video - There doesn't seem to be any relationship between the music and the video.
Close up of artists - Because the music video is a narrative we aren't used to seeing close ups of the artists. However Ed Sheeran is featured in this video with a medium shot but only briefly for a few seconds. The reason for this will be so that people will get to know who the artist is.

Notion of looking-The female character is looked down upon due to her being homeless and is portrayed as a sex symbol due to her being a prostitute to gain money to actually survive and get by. This narrative is a good choice for this song because its slow and sad and makes the audience feel sorry for the female an her experiences.
Intertexual References - There isn't any formal type of intertexual references in this video because its just a narrative and is not trying to advertise anything.

Props - The props used in this video are Drugs, Bed Sheets, Duvets which represent the female character is homeless and needy. There is also the selling of the Big Issue which is also a big sign to the audience that she is homeless as the paper is associated with this. Furthermore make up is used to represent her prostitution.
Craig Davis Analysis - For this video there is a obvious link with the lyrics and the video, they are not in chronological order but overall they tell a narrative story of how the female gets by in life living on the streets sung by Ed Sheeran.
Camera Use
- Long shots to set the scene of the narrative to the audience
- Close ups to show the emotions of the homeless female and the drugs to emphasize its importance to her
- Extreme close up of the males hand on her leg showing his superiority over her
- High angle to show dominance over certain characters
- Low angle shots to show the vulnerability of the female
- Medium shots of her sleeping to set the general tone
- Establishing shots
- Shallow focusing to emphasize the protagonist
- Tracking shot as she walks into the flat
- Two shot when the protagonist and Ed Sheeran are together
